“Richards Ranch was the perfect getaway — just a quick, easy drive from Dallas. The facilities were top-notch, and everyone there made us feel right at home. We had a blast swapping stories, Sonny and the team got us feeling confident learning how to ride horses together. Can’t wait to go back!”

“Our hunting trip at Richards Ranch in Jacksboro was awesome. The place is huge and really well-kept—tons of room to roam, with a nice mix of open fields and wooded spots.

The staff was super friendly and helpful, but also let us do our thing. Saw plenty of game while we were out—deer, hogs, even some turkeys. The guides know their stuff and made it easy for us to enjoy the hunt without feeling rushed or pressured.

The lodge was clean and comfortable, and the food was legit—good, hearty meals after a long day outside.

If you’re looking for a laid-back, well-run spot to hunt in Texas, I’d definitely recommend Richards Ranch.”

“I currently have 3 horses boarded at Richards Ranch. I never worry about them being there. It became evident very early, that the staff at Richards Ranch are some of the best ever. Their knowledge of the horse industry and the care of these amazing creatures is second to none. And when things do go wrong – horses being horses – they are quickly attended to, and I am promptly notified as to their situation. My standing order with them is to “care for them as if they wire your horses.” It’s that level of trust. Their new horse headquarters is nothing but first class. All amenities and training facilities present, and in a relaxing and comfortable environment of the Ranch. You can clearly see that a lifetime of experience went into the design and construction of the facility.I have also been invited to ride and assist the crew in the workings of the cattle ranch. These are wonderful experiences, with amazing cowboys and cowgirls. You are quickly welcomed and treated as one of the crew. All of this amongst the historic Richards Ranch, which in itself is a beautiful setting. A diversity of terrain, creeks, tanks, rocks, historic homesteads, wildlife of all types, and the most incredible sunsets imaginable. Riding the Ranch horseback truly feeds the soul – brings me back to center. I have stayed in the Ranch House and the cabins on the Ranch as well. Great cooks, comfortable accommodations, a front porch with rocking chairs and a fireplace, and the most quiet nights for the best sleep ever. What else do you need?God smiled on me when he led me to this place and this family. My only regret is not spending enough time there. Don’ t forget to ask about their farm to table, grass fed beef, raised on the Ranch. Some of the most amazing steaks and other cuts I’ve ever had – I’m on my second steer!”

“We absolutely loved our time at Richards Ranch! The team was so kind and patient while teaching us how to ride, and the property is beautiful. We felt like we could relax and have fun and left with great memories and new friends.”

“Richards Ranch is by far one of my favorite places to go hunting. Whether it’s white tail hunting or high fence exotics this place has some of the best animals in Tx. This place is like my second home. Everything from massive animals to great hospitality, it doesn’t get much better than this place. Max Dixon is one of the most knowledgeable guides I have ever met. He has also become one of my good friends! Thank you Brent, Hunter & Max for providing an awesome place for all hunters to come and enjoy a little slice of hunters heaven!!”

Austin Grissom

“So I have made 7 trips to the Richards Ranch.  My only complaint is that I did not start earlier!  Every visit is an ADVENTURE.  My first trophy deer hunt came down to the last 20 minuets of the hunt.  Max Dixon was there for me the entire time and we harvested a beautiful buck.  I have recently been hunting in the “high fence” and the variety of outstanding exotics has been mind blowing.  Understand, just because it’s a high fence scenario, the hunt is just as challenging if not more.  Brent Hackley, the owner, has always made extra efforts to help me put together to accommodate my requested hunt.

Hogs, what a blast.  Max knows his craft at the highest level.  We are always set up prior to the hogs making an appearance.  Perfect positron for a fast and furious harvest!

I know that I am part of the Richards Ranch family.  Between Brent, Max, and many others, i always feel welcome, know exactly the hunting plan will be, and understand that I take a priority with my incredible guide and friend Max.  I have already booked my next hunt for this December!  The top notch guiding, customizable hunts available, housing accommodations, and just pure enjoyment is the PERFECT Texas hunting experience. “

“I started hunting at the Richards Ranch 3-4 years ago.  Great animals from whitetail to exotics.  The accommodations are great and very comfortable.  Not often you do you get to stay in such nice accommodations on an iconic ranch with so much history like the Richards Ranch.  Max is my favorite guide and after you hunt with him you will consider him family.  He will put you on your animals of choice whether a trophy exotic or whitetail.  Have hunted at quite a few big ranches and game farms, the Richard’s Ranch is a must on my calendar every year. Give Max a call and get your hunt booked and join the Richards Ranch Hunting Family.”

Denny Patterson

“An experience I won’t soon forget. You run a first class operation!”

Doug Langston

“I’ve hunted all over North and South America and a bit in Europe and haven’t had a better hunt anywhere. Your operation is just what I’ve been looking for, and only an hour from DFW…”

Denny Iker

“I’ve been a long-time visitor to the Richards Ranch.  They provide a first-class hunting experience – whether for a novice or a professional hunter.  The guides, animals and accommodations are excellent.  Ive never been dissatisfied with any aspect of the hunt.”
